We are appealing - to committed individuals who feel as strongly as we do about the significance of a sound education, and its contribution to the greater South African community - to sponsor a teacher from a disadvantaged school in the Mpumalanga or Limpopo provinces in South Africa to regularly attend Penreach skills development workshops at Penryn College in Nelspruit, Mpumalanga.

The formal education of a child begins in the foundation years. Passionate and committed teachers in the Preschool and Primary School phases provide the crucial building blocks that children need in order for them to achieve in the higher grades and to succeed later on in life. Yet the Preprimary and Primary School teachers who attend our Penreach workshops are the ones least able to afford their transport to the workshops. The Penreach workshop programmes are sponsored by corporate South Africa but the Preschool and Primary School programmes are currently oversubscribed, attesting to the efficacy and popularity of the workshop programme. The skills learned at these workshops improve not only teaching skills but also the confidence and professionalism of the teachers.

Sponsorship options are (each teacher attends 8 workshops per year):
• Annual travel costs for one teacher: R360-00.
• Penreach Preschool Skills Development workshops: R1209 per teacher per year.
• Penreach Primary School Skills Development workshops: R976 per teacher per year.
